The new beast: “Fell Voices On The Wind”

Wow, this is the longest song that I have written up to date, but interestingly it took me only a couple of days. So without further ado: turn on the speakers, here is “Fell Voices On The Wind”:

The lyrics are based on the story of Icarus, but with a little twist. I will put the lyrics on the site for the song. Meanwhile …

Update for EZmix

Toontrack released EZmix 2 a few days ago. Since I´ve used the older version for recording and mixing I decided to upgrade.

The interface has been upgraded and now features filtered search and a new controls section. Filtering is now very easy and comfortable and you even have a free search field. There also is a favorites section for easy access of the often used presets. In the controls section you have two knobs to manipulate the presets, but manipulation is very limited (too limited in my opinion). Further you can set input and output levels for each preset.

Overall it is a nice upgrade and really helps in producing your music. As I said, I would like to have some more possibilities to control the sound of the presets.

Short note: problems with bouncing in Logic?

Recently I ran into a problem, when bouncing in Logic kept going on forever and created HUGE files (if any). Since I thought that my Logic project got corrupted somehow I created a new one, but that didn’t help either. After doing some research I finally found the solution: untick the “Add Effect Tails” (in the screenshot “Audioausklang einschließen”) in the bounce dialog. That´s it.

By the way: by solving this problem the publication of the first snippet of “Drowning” moved significantly closer …

Drowning

Writing music sometimes is very difficult. You can spend hours and hours without coming up with something useful. Then again you can write a couple of riffs within 15 minutes.

This was the case with the first three riffs for the new song “Drowning“. Since I was in a hurry I simply wanted to jam around a little bit but then came up with the very first riff, soon followed by the other two. It´s too early to give you some audio, but I think within the next few weeks I will upload a first snippet of the song.

The Essence (Of The I)

Currently I am in the process of finishing the music for the song “The Essence (Of The I)”. All riffs and drums are done, now it´s all about finetuning some parts and recording the bass tracks. What I like about this track is the wide range of tempo: you will find everything from blast beats to a more “groovy” midtempo. This is the latest version:

Although the basic concept is done, the lyrics are still a ToDo and may take a while.
